Police today are releasing two video surveillance tapes from recent robberies in hopes that someone will be able to identify the suspects.
The first robbery (which runs about 1:30 in length) depicts a masked man jumping the counter of Hollywood Liquor, 1958 Hollywood Avenue, the night of April 1.
The suspect is described as about 5'9" tall and skinny. He is light-skinned but was masked and hooded to conceal his face.
He can be seen forcing the store clerk at gunpoint to get money. While it can’t be seen clearly on video, the suspect hit the clerk in the head with a gun. The clerk was taken to Willis-Knighton Pierremont for a minor cut on his head.
The second robbery (which is much shorter in length) shows an unmasked black male wearing a bandana across his forehead and a red and white plaid shirt robbing the Discount Tobacco store at 2330 Line Avenue on March 8.
The incident occurred about 2:16 p.m. In the video you can clearly see the suspect checking out at the register. He then pulls a gun and demands that the clerk give him all the money from the register. He then walked out of the store, headed west on Dalzell.
The suspect is described as a young black male between age 19 and 25. He is about 5'8" tall, 140 pounds with dark skin and light facial hair. He was wearing braids.
It is not believed that these two robberies are linked, but the suspects in them could be linked to other incidents that have occurred recently.
If anyone has information about either of these suspects or robberies, please call Shreveport detectives at 673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7000.
