CSO, SPD law officers to receive Optimist Club awards
The Breakfast Optimist Club will be presenting to law officer of the year awards during a special event on Thursday morning.
Officer Daniel Denby of the Shreveport Police Department and Cpl. Alan Davidson of the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office will each be honored during the "Respect for Law" breakfast being held at 7:30 a.m. at the Rutherford House.
Denby has been with the department since February of 2000. During 2003 alone, he received four letters of commendation from citizens and supervisors because they felt his actions were exemplary in resolving situations. He recorded 37 felony arrests, 70 misdemeanor arrests and made 274 traffic stops.
Denby has done excellent work on several burglary cases that resulted in several arrests. He is courteous and friendly toward co-workers and citizens and assists whenever he is needed.
Davidson is a 14-year member of the Caddo Sheriff's Office, currently
assigned to the Caddo-Shreveport White Collar Crimes Unit. As a financial
crimes investigator, he works closely with retail stores, pawnshops and
banks and has been able to aggressively pursue criminals and develop
successful cases against them. His ability to investigate financial crimes
has prevented crimes from occurring, identified repeat offenders, and
brought offenders to justice.
Earlier this year, Cpl. Davidson assisted detectives with a robbery
investigation where two elderly Caddo Parish residents were attacked and
robbed outside their home. Cpl. Davidson worked with security personnel from an area retail store to identify two of the suspects, who were ultimately charged with robbery.
