FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Police look for felony theft suspect

Shreveport police are looking for a well-known boxer by the name of James Johnson of Shreveport.

Johnson, 28, is wanted for two counts of felony theft for failing to pay for expensive auto repairs made to his red 1996 Corvette.

Johnson is accused of taking his Corvette from a local body shop without paying the bill, which amounted to nearly $11,000. In addition, he is accused of pocketing the insurance money for the repairs.

In March, Johnson reported his Corvette had been vandalized and burglarized. He had taken the car in for repair and picked it up from the body shop on Friday without paying for the work.

Detectives were trying to serve the warrant this afternoon when they located Johnson driving in his Corvette. However, they were unable to stop him. He allegedly has changed the license plate to La. JSW 316.

Anyone with information on Johnson’s whereabouts is asked to call detectives at 673-6985 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7000.
