Shreveport police spend much of today working a major accident on Interstate 20 near the Industrial Loop.
The westbound lanes of Interstate 20 are now moving slowly between Pines Road and Industrial, while crews work to unload a truckload of plastic from an overturned 18-wheeler. That section of roadway was completely closed for several hours.
The accident occurred about 7:30 a.m. today when a Toyota 4Runner driven by Gloria Hudson, 39, of Bethany, Texas, was headed eastbound on I-20. She reportedly swerved to avoid a car in front of her, overcorrected and ended up in the westbound lanes of I–20, where she collided with a 1997 Infiniti and a 2003 Peterbilt truck.
Hudson was taken to Willis-Knighton South with minor injuries. The driver of the Infiniti, Blake Bailey of Tyler, Texas (age unknown) was not injured. The driver of the truck, 53-year-old James Diuguid of Virginia, was transported to Willis-Knighton North with minor injuries.
The truck overturned and was badly damaged. Crews had to be called in to remove its load of plastic and upright the overturned truck, causing traffic to be tied up on the westbound section of Interstate 20 for hours.
Hudson was ticketed for careless operation.
