Police department plans summer fishing, basketball events

Shreveport Police Department is accepting registration for its upcoming children’s fishing tournament and basketball camp.

The fishing tournament will take place from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 26. It is open to boys and girls, ages 6 to 13 and will take place at the Cross Lake Patrol office, located near the Municipal Pier.

Prizes will be awarded for various categories, and refreshments will be served. The event is free.

Later in July, the department also will host a basketball camp at the Southern Hills Recreation Center. This camp takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 12 to 15. It is free and open to boys and girls ages 6 to 13.
