Recruit Run set for tomorrow (Thursday) morning

In following police academy tradition, the newest class of Shreveport Police officers will participate in a recruit run fund-raiser early tomorrow morning, June 17.

The runners will leave the Shreveport Regional Police Academy (6440 Greenwood Road) at 6:30 a.m. and jog to the front stairs of the Shreveport Police Department building, located at 1234 Texas Avenue. They should arrive at the department between 7:30 and 8 a.m.

The recruit run spans 8½ miles. Money raised benefits the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club.

Twenty-nine recruits will be running, along with their instructors and other police officers.

The class, which makes up the 51^st Basic Training Session, will graduate in a ceremony set for 9 a.m. Friday, June 18, in the Fire and Police Academy Auditorium, located at 6440 Greenwood Road.
