Drug bust nets four arrests, narcotics seizure

Shreveport Chief of Police Mike Campbell and Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator today announced the arrests of four people and the seizure of marijuana and cocaine.

The drug bust occurred at a home at 5624 Fairfax in Shreveport last night after agents with the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Unit received numerous complaints from citizens.

Agents searched the home and seized 377 grams of powder cocaine, 9.7 grams of crack cocaine and 257 grams of Marijuana. The drugs have a street value of more than $40,000. In addition, agents seized $3,462 in suspected drug proceeds, a scale and a .25-caliber handgun. Those arrested were:

    Omesha Gilyard, 25, of Shreveport. She is charged with possession of Schedule I and II with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

    • Taiwon Irving, 27, of Shreveport. He is charged with possession of Schedule I and II with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

    • Antionette Gilyard , 43, of Shreveport. She was arrested on a warrant for drug paraphernalia.

    • Johnny Marie Taylor, 45, of Shreveport. She is charged with Possession of Schedule I and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Some of those arrested are family members of Rocky Gilyard, a 19-year-old Shreveport man who was killed at Market and Lake Streets on June 20.
