Shreveport officer receives award

A Shreveport officer will receive a prestigious award during a banquet Sunday in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Detective Corporal Kevin Goodwin will receive the Law Officer of the Year Award from La Societe des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux (The Society of 40 Men and 8 Horses), at the Grande Promenade.

Corporal Goodwin has been with the Shreveport Police Department for more than 13 years. He has an outstanding "solve rate", and last year made more than 236 arrests. One of his arrests ended a string of burglaries by one suspect and recovered over $57,000 worth of equipment.

Corporal Goodwin’s award package will now be forwarded to Indianapolis, Indiana for consideration in the national competition.
