Police arrest murder suspect

This morning members of the Shreveport Police Department, Louisiana Probation and Parole, and the U.S. Marshall’s fugitive Task Force arrested Paul Washington, 23, on charges of second degree murder.

Washington was wanted on an outstanding warrant for the murder of Melvin Washington (no relation) that occurred November 13, 2003 on East Crockett Street.

The officers went to the Royal Inn on North Market Street to follow up on a tip that Washington was there. After surrounding the room and establishing a dialogue with the suspect, Washington and a female companion were taken into custody.

The female companion, Passion Gladney, 18, was arrested on an unrelated felony charge.
