Shreveport’s newest officers help community

The 30 officers who are the most recent graduates of the Shreveport Regional Police Academy will make their first of many contributions to the community today at 1:30 p.m. in the Chief’s conference room.

Members of Class 51, who graduated on June 18, will present a check in the amount of $3900.00 to the Salvation Army Boys/Girls Clubs.

Each graduating class raises money for a local charity of their choice. The money is raised through car washes, bar-b-ques, and personal donations.

They also do an 8 ½ mile "Recruit Run", from the Academy at 6440 Greenwood Road to the front steps of the Shreveport Police Department on Texas Street, to help raise funds.
