SPD Conducts Vehicle Inspections

Shreveport Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted a random Insurance Check Point in the 2900 Block of Knight Street today which resulted in the confiscation of 22 license plates and the issuing of citations for the following offenses:

• 25 No Proof of Insurance

• 6 Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection Stickers (MVI)

• 5 Expired License Tags

• 1 Child restraint seat

• 3 No Motor Vehicle Inspection Sticker

• 3 Failure to register

A total of 1175 cars were stopped and checked with no vehicles being impounded.

Shreveport Police will continue to conduct these inspection checkpoints periodically in various locations throughout the city. These inspections are designed to ensure motorists comply with city and state motor vehicle laws.

The police department reminds citizens, the registered owner of a motor vehicle is responsible for maintaining the current paperwork in the vehicle at all times. However, the driver of a vehicle also has the responsibility of ensuring the vehicle has the proper paperwork and will be held accountable for producing those documents at the request of a law enforcement officer.
