Police Target DUI’s

On Friday, September 3rd, the Shreveport Police Department’sTraffic Enforcement Unit will be targeting drivers who are "Under the Influence" as well as open container violations in an area saturation operation. SPD will be concentrating their efforts in Areas 1 and 2 .

This enforcement action is made possible through a grant from the Department of Justice. The awarded grant allows Shreveport Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to place more emphasis on reducing the number of traffic fatalities and serious injuries resulting from the combination of irresponsible drinking and operation of a motor vehicle.

According to state law, drivers operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of a .08 or above will be arrested and drivers or occupants who possess an open alcoholic container will be cited. Police will also be issuing citations for other noticeable infractions occurring as a result of the traffic stop.

Shreveport Police will be conducting more of these enforcement actions until year's end.
