FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Teamwork Nets Shooting Suspects

It all started with a violent crime being committed on an innocent person, a store being robbed, information from concerned citizens, and long hours of detective work. However, the process worked putting two suspects behind bars for Robbery and Attempted First Degree Murder.

On Wednesday, October 6th, the Thrifty Liquor store at 1401 Hollywood was robbed by three unidentified b/m's who entered the store guns blazing, striking a female clerk in the upper thigh causing life threatening injuries. At the time all three suspects escaped, but through the large influx of information from numerous sources, Shreveport Police Robbery detectives were able to identify the three suspects involved and determine their part in the crime. Positively identified in the robbery and shooting were:

Jamario Freeman, b/m, 01/28/86 (shooter)

Corey Colbert, b/m, 01/26/86 (accomplice)

Gregory Jenkins, b/m, 10/07/86 (accomplice)

Working from the moment the crime occurred, until early daybreak Saturday morning, members of the Robbery Unit, Homicide Unit, SWAT Team, SPD Patrol division and SPD CSI Unit followed numerous leads, interviewed countless witnesses, evaluated information from Crime Stoppers and obtained multiple search and arrest warrants for the suspects. SPD Units served numerous warrants simultaneously on six different houses during the pouring rain in an attempt to capture the suspects.

Colbert and Jenkins were taken into custody without incident, interviewed and confessed to their part in the crime. Both were booked into CCC on Attempted First Degree Homicide and Armed Robbery.

Although Freeman was not found during these searches, the information developed through concerned citizens will ensure his capture. A $ 500,000.00 warrant has been issued for the arrest of Freeman. Also, through intensive investigation, Shreveport Police Detectives believe there is a 4th suspect involved in the shooting and are confident this suspect will be apprehened soon. This suspect maybe known as Chris but has a street name of "G-Face," resulting from a tattoo on his cheek of a Gothic "C," which may look like a "G."

Anyone having information as to the location of this subject needs to call the Shreveport Police Department, 673-7300 or Crime Stoppers, 673-7000 as soon as possible.
