FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Woman injured in pedestrian accident
(sent to media via e-mail)
Beth Ann Townes, 51, of Shreveport was in the middle of Jewella when a man pulled out and struck her with his car.
Townes received a severe head injury and was rushed to LSU Hospital. Her condition is possibly life-threatening.
The driver of the blue Dodge Intrepid, Henry Durham, 73, of Shreveport had just pulled out of the Rite Aid parking lot at Greenwood and Jewella and struck Townes, who was in the middle of the road. While he hit her at a slow rate of speed, her head hit the pavement.
Townes appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The case is still under investigation, but no charges have been filed against Durham.
