Fatality crash, Linwood and Cox

A Shreveport man critically injured in an auto accident at Linwood and Cox last Friday night has died.

Clemmit Pouncy Sr., 53, died at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday at LSU Hospital.

He was injured when his 1995 Cadillac Eldorado -- headed southbound on Linwood -- crossed the center line, striking a 1972 Pontiac Bonneville vehicle almost head on. The accident happened about 9 p.m. Friday, March 17. The driver of the Bonneville, 32-year-old Veronica Johnson of Shreveport, was taken to LSU, treated and released.

A third vehicle -- a 2001 Honda Accord -- was involved in the accident, being struck in the front bumper following the collision of the first two vehicles. The driver of that vehicle, 22-year-old Darrielle Stephens, was not injured.

Why Pouncy crossed the center line is still under investigation.
