The Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Unit arrested a 28-year-old Shreveport man about 10 a.m. today after he was found to be in possession of nearly $200,000 worth of illegal drugs and suspected narcotics proceeds. Roy McClinton was arrested in the 300 block of West 77th after agents investigated complaints of drug activity at that location. He was booked into Shreveport City Jail on a charge of possession of Schedule II with intent to distribute. A pickup truck in McClinton's possession was searched, and agents found 1,553 grams of powder cocaine and 59 grams of crack cocaine. Agents also seized $8,637 in cash. While that arrest was made today, members of the Mid-Level Investigative Unit made another big arrest on Friday, April 21. Kerry Baker, 36, of Shreveport was arrested for possession with intent to distribute over 400 grams of powder and crack cocaine. The arrest early Friday morning ended a two-month investigation into the illegal narcotic activities at Baker's residence in the 3100 block of Waggoner Street. Agents seized about 172 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $17,200 and 342 grams of powder cocaine, worth about $34,200. Also confiscated was $5,883 in suspected illegal narcotics proceeds, three weapons and a set of digital scales. It is believed that Baker was supplying drugs to people in Cedar Grove, Mooretown and Ingleside. Additional arrests are possible. -spd- View all SPD press releases at www.ci.shreveport.la.us/dept/police/spdnews |
