Woman arrested for child abuse

Shreveport detectives have arrested a Shreveport woman on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile.

Rachael Manning, 22, of Shreveport is accused of severely beating a 3-year-old black male juvenile so badly that he had total discoloration of his buttocks and lower back.

Shreveport police were called to Willis-Knighton Bossier in reference to a boy who had severe injuries from apparent beatings. Extension cord wounds and lacerations covered his back, stomach, chest, legs, feet, hands, head and ear.

Detectives got an arrest warrant for cruelty to a juvenile with a bond of $75,000. She is being held in Bossier Parish Maximum Custody and will eventually be transferred to Caddo Parish on the felony charge.
