Owner arrested for allowing underage into club

Shreveport Police Department’s Vice Unit has arrested the owner of the Upward Step nightclub after 41 people inside the club were found to be under the age of 21.

Larry Hamilton, 59, of Shreveport was charged with 47 counts of prohibited acts - 41 of those counts for the number of underage people inside the business, whose primary commodity is alcohol. Six other counts involved people who did not have identification.

The club, which has operated for man years in the 1700 block of Marshall, has not had reports of problems until recently. A raid of the nightclub took place with the assistance of Patrol Area 2.
