Woman arrested for forgery

Shreveport Detective Greg Rudell of the Caddo-Shreveport White Collar Crimes Task Force has arrested a 25-year-old Shreveport woman on a charge of forgery.

Dequita Ashley was arrested today for allegedly making 21 fraudulent payday loans while she was manager of Money in a Flash at 9035 Jewella.

Ashley is accused of using the personal information of prior customers to obtain loans. She then allegedly produced numerous counterfeit checks to make payments on the loans.

So far, the identity theft has added up to $5,200 in aggregate losses. Other charges are likely to be filed as detectives determine other idenity theft victims.
