Mother arrested for death of child

Shreveport Police have arrested a woman on a charge of second-degree murder after the Caddo Parish Grand Jury indicted her in connection with the death of her 22-month old son.

Zwannica McBride, 19, of Shreveport was arrested Friday night after the Grand Jury returned indictments earlier in the day.

Police arrested Johnathon Givens, 25, of Shreveport back in July for the incident that occurred on July 20. Givens reported that the child had ingested some type of poison, although an autopsy revealed the child had severe internal injuries.

The mother was not arrested at that time.
