Shreveport police are investigating the death of a 1-month-old baby boy.
The baby was discovered about 7 a.m. today at a home in the 2300 block of Marion Avenue. Shreveport Police Department, along with the Shreveport Fire Department, arrived on scene and found the infant unconscious in the parent’s bed.
There were no signs of foul play, and the coronor's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
This case is similar to one last week where a 9-day-old baby died while sleeping between the parents in their bed.
Because small babies cannot move their heads and bodies, experts say parents should always lie the baby on its back on a mattress that has no loose bedding or stuff animals that could cause the baby to suffocate. NEVER sleep with a baby.
