FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Malcolm Shooting

Shreveport police have arrested two people involved in a homicide that occurred in the 2500 block of Malcolm.

A 16-year-old black male was arrested and charged with the second-degree murder of Demario Harvey, 19, of Shreveport. Meanwhile, another suspect involved in the shooting, 19-year-old Charles Cornelious of Shreveport, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder. (Photo cannot be released at this time)

Harvey and four others were shot in a drive-by shooting that occured about 9 p.m. Sunday. Harvey was driven to LSU Hospital in a private automobile with a gunshot wound to the head. The four others injured were: Brandon Shaw, 22, who was shot five times in unknown locations on his body; a 15-year-old who was shot in the right leg; Jacory Baker, 17, who was shot in the right buttocks; and Hilton Wolfe, 39, who was shot in the left arm.

The incident occurred when a car believed to be occupied by Harvey and other individuals drove by a residence where a group of people were gathered. One of the people in the suspect vehicle reportedly got out and fired shots at the crowd. Multiple shots were fired, and the suspect car then fled the scene.

Many of the people involved in the shooting were uncooperative with police. The cause of the shooting is under investigation. It is unknown whether other charges will be filed.
