FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Officer injured in Shreveport

A domestic disturbance leaves one police officer injured and two suspects in custody this morning.

Last night around 9:30pm officers working on the Armed Robbery Task Force were at the corner of East Herndon and Centenary when they heard a female screaming for help. When the officers responded to the Centenary Garden Apartments they determined the screams were coming from apartment 102, where they found a black male, Stafford Pinesett Jr., 04-19-73 and a black female Omarah Ortiz, 12-11-80 fighting.

Detectives were forced to physically restrain Pinesett after he refused their verbal commands several times. As detectives were attempting to handcuff Pinesett, Ortiz attacked them. Once Ortiz was handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle she attempted to kick out one of the windows.

Detectives again removed her from the vehicle to restrain her, and that is when she head butted the detective standing behind her. The detective was transported to LSUHSC where he was diagnosed with a broken nose.

Pinesett faces a charge of resisting a police officer and Possession of Schedule III Narcotics after detectives found 20 tablets of hydrocodone on him.

Ortiz faces 3 counts of Battery, 1 count of felony battery on a police officer and 1 count of interference with a police officer.
