Man stealing from elderly

Shreveport police are hoping that someone will recognize a man seen on convenience store video who targets elderly people and victimizes them.

The man, described as a tall, thin white male about 25 to 30 years of age with a right mole on his cheek, contacts the victims in the parking lots and asked the citizens if they need help. He then enters their vehicle when they are not looking and takes the vehicle or takes items such as purses out of the cars.

In some cases, the suspect uses the victims' checkbooks to make high-dollar purchases at grocery stores, electronic stores and gas stations. Sometimes he tells the clerk he is purchasing items for his grandmother.

The incident caught on tape occurred at the Valero located at 70th and Buncombe Road.
