FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Police working separate robberies

Shreveport Police Department is hoping the public will be able to provide information regarding two separate robberies that have occurred recently.

FAMILY DOLLAR

The Family Dollar at 3870 Linwood was robbed when two black males entered armed with handguns. Surveillance video (PLEASE PICK UP IN THE MEDIA BOX -- IT IS GOOD QUALITY) shows the men approaching the clerk as she was at the front doors just before 7 p.m. They forced the clerk to the register, and then demanded money. After getting an undisclosed amount, they left the scene.

One of the men was wearing a very distinctive red hooded jacket with the words "Player 69" on the back of it. Someone most likely will recognize the jacket. It is hoped they call Crime Stoppers with information.

These two individuals are also believed to have robbed 20/20 Seafood at 4645 Greenwood Road about 40 minutes prior to the Family Dollar robbery. When the suspect pulled out a weapon, the employee ran to the back of the business. At that time, one of the robbers fired a shot and fled. No one was injured.

BLOCKBUSTER

Information is also sought on the suspect and a possible witness in the robbery of Blockbuster Video in the 700 block of Shreveport-Barksdale Boulevard on Nov. 11. In that case, the robber -- completely covered in clothing -- entered the store with a handgun. The clerk saw the suspect and went to lock herself in an office. The robber then fled the scene without any cash.

A white male entered the store and may have been a possible witness to the attempted robbery. If anyone recognizes this man, detectives would like to talk to him. PLEASE NOTE THAT HE IS NOT A SUSPECT IN THIS CASE.

Photos of the suspect and possible witness are attached. This suspect is believed to have committed several robberies in the Shreveport and Bossier City areas.

Anyone with information about either of these cases is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
