FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ron Bean Reward account nears $18,000
The bank account set up to catch the killer of Herby K owner John Bean has now mounted to nearly $18,000.
A rare and highly-sought after Stanaback Special knife made by the Randall Made knife company in Florida was donated and auctioned off on E-Bay for $1,075. That money, along with several other large donations, puts the reward account at a total of $17,945.
John Bean, 58, was at the restaurant in the 1800 block of Pierre about 9:30 p.m. July 28 when a masked gunman entered the business. The suspect demanded money and an altercation ensued between Bean and the suspect. Bean was shot and rushed to LSU Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries from the gunshot wound.
Although detectives have worked numerous leads in the case, no arrest has been made.
Anyone who gives information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect is eligible for the reward money, as well as an additional $1,000 in Crime Stoppers funds.
In October, the Shreveport Police Department joined with Bean's family to announce that $15,250 had been donated to entice someone with information to come forward.
Vietnam veterans have been great to support the reward account effort. Bean was a Vietnam Veteran himself and was well liked throughout the community.
If someone would like to add money to this reward account, they may do so at First Louisiana Bank in the name of the John Bean Reward Account.
Anyone with information is asked to call Violent Crimes detectives at 673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
