FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Man wanted for Grimmett Drive Homicide
A man wanted in Friday night's shooting at the Grimmett Drive Apartments has been named as the murder suspect in a homicide that occurred near the same apartment complex earlier last week.
Wadelen (pronounced Wade-i-len) "Sneaky" Sumlin, 30, of Shreveport, is wanted for first-degree murder for the death of 23-year-old Quantavius Webb. Webb and his 17-year-old passenger, Shannon Sanders, were shot while sitting in a car at the apartment complex on Tuesday night, Jan. 9.
Sumlin and another man, 20-year-old Richard "Little Richard" Baker of Shreveport are believed to also have been involved in the shooting of two people Friday night. Injured in that shooting were Demetricus Cortez Mitchell, 38, of Shreveport and Karen Davis (unknown age and address). Both were taken to LSU Hospital with non life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Baker turned himself into Shreveport Police last night. Meanwhile, a warrant was issued this afternoon for Sumlin on the homicide charge.
Sumlin is now wanted for first-degree murder and principal to attempted second degree murder. He is about 5'7" tall, 190 pounds with a medium complexion. His clothing description is unknown. Photos of both Sumlin and Baker are attached to this release.
If anyone has information on Sumlin's whereabouts, call Violent Crimes Detectives at 673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
