Police Awards banquet and winners

Shreveport Police Department will host its Annual Awards and Appreciation Dinner tonight at 7 p.m. at RiverView Hall (formerly Convention Hall, next to the Civic Theater). It is sponsored by the Agurs Business Association.

A number of outstanding officers will be recognized, including several who put their lives at risk to save others. At this banquet, the highest award given by the department will be presented to two officers -- the Medal of Valor. A woman who they saved will be on hand to thank them personally.

The media is welcomed to attend this event to watch the department salute the outstanding work of 2006.
