Dangerous suspect wanted

Shreveport Police have recovered the car of a man wanted in Ascension Parish for an attempted murder, kidnapping and rape that occurred Saturday.

A Honda Accord belonging to Bobby Weatherton, 49, of Prairieville, Louisiana was discovered at a barbecue restaurant on Common Street in downtown Shreveport this afternoon. The vehicle has now been impounded to be examined by crime scene investigators.

Weatheron is believed to have kidnapped and raped a woman and then attempted to kill her over the weekend. She managed to escape.

Weatherton is a sex offender and has repeatedly been arrested for failing to register as such. In 1979 he was arrested for forcible rape and aggravated burglary. He was convicted and sentenced to 35 years in prison.
