Woman arrested for Sunday stabbing

Shreveport detectives have arrested a woman on a charge of attempted second-degree murder for allegedly stabbing a man in the 2600 block of Lillian Street Sunday night.

Sharita James, 36, of Shreveport was arrested for the 10:30 p.m. incident in which Billy Smith, 42, of Shreveport was stabbed in the neck.

Smith was taken to LSU Hospital and is currently in serious condition.

While information is sketchy at this time, the two appeared to be in some type of physical struggle. James was reportedly able to grab a knife and stab Smith multiple times. Both parties appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into the facts of this case. Photo cannot be released at this time.
