FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jewelry store burglaries under investigation
Shreveport Police Department is working to track down suspects who have broken into four Shreveport jewelry stores in the past six weeks.
Surveillance video captured the two most recent burglaries -- James Avery that occurred at 6535 Youree Drive on Saturday, March 10, and David Louis Jewelers at 2804 Southland Park Drive on March 7. (Still photos of the James Avery video, and pictures of some of the jewelry stolen from James Avery are attached. The James Avery logo is on every item of jewelry stolen from the store).
The other two burglaries occurred at the Stephen Miller jewelry store at 6030 Line Avenue on Feb. 23 and Bailey's Jewelers at 7020 Youree Drive on Feb. 5.
In all of the cases, glass cabinets were broken and jewelry was removed. Rings, men's and women's watches and necklaces were among items taken. At James Avery, many of the items taken had religious symbols on them.
It is unknown whether the burglaries are being committed by the same people. In the James Avery case, two black male suspects can be seen walking up to the business. In the David Louis Jewelers case, one person with his face and hands covered can be seen breaking the front glass door of the business to make entry.
Anyone with information on these cases is asked to call Detective Shannon Mack at 673-6985 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
