Man drowns in north Shreveport
Shreveport Police are still investigating why an individual jumped into a lake at the Northwood Lake Apartments early Wednesday morning.
Michael D. Weather's, DOB 1-2-71, body was recovered by the Shreveport Fire Departments dive team around 2:25 this morning. It is believed Weathers was submerged for approximately 45 minutes. Weathers was transported to Willis Knighten Bossier where he was pronounced dead.
Shortly before 8:00pm Tuesday night officers responded to a call at Weathers apartment in reference to a domestic violence call. The victim’s girlfriend, Diana Griffin was issued a Summons at that time. Officers responded to the same apartment at 10:00pm in reference to a disorderly person call. Mr. Weathers had returned to the scene and left via private vehicle after talking to officers.
Officers responded again to the scene on a disorderly person call at around 1:10 this morning. Officers talked to the daughter of Diana Griffin. At this time none of the responding officers encountered Mr. Weathers.
Shortly afterwards around 1:30am a call came into the police department concerning a possible drowning.
When officers arrived, a witness told officers that he tried to rescue Weathers from the lake but was unsuccessful.
Search and Rescue Dive team searched the lake and located the victim at 0225 hours.
