Charges filed in fatal wreck

Shreveport Police have filed charges against three people centering on a crash which killed a 2 month old infant less than 2 weeks ago.

The crash involved a 15 year old unlicensed juvenile driver who had permission from her mother to drive a family vehicle to run an errand.

The juvenile was heading back to the residence from the store when she turned in front of the SUV occupied with eight passengers one being a two month old infant.

The infant was unrestrained in the vehicle and died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.

Five other passengers in the SUV were also not wearing seat belts and sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The investigation revealed criminal negligence on both vehicles involved in this crash. Today the Shreveport Police have charged the Juvenile driver in this case with No Driver License and Failure to Yield Left Turn.

Her Mother Has been charged with Allowing an unlicensed person under the age of seventeen to drive.

The driver of the SUV Serena Pratt, DOB 3-23-1978, of Shreveport, has been charged with Child passenger restraint system for the infant who was not belted in this case.

The accident happened at the corner of Wyngate and west 84th street on March the 11th shortly after 6:30 in the evening. The Juvenile was trying to turn onto Wyngate from west 84th street when it struck the SUV head on. The SUV was traveling eastbound on West 84th street.

There was no sign alcohol or careless operation by either driver in this case. The case will be forwarded to the D.A.'s office for review.
