Charges upgraded from last weekends shooting

This past Wednesday LaQuinta Watson was charged with 2nd Degree Murder for the death of his wife, Leslie Russell, and Attempted 2nd Degree Murder for the shooting and beating of her boyfriend, DeAngelo James.

Last Sunday shortly before midnight Shreveport police officers responded to a shots fired call at the Villa Delago Apartments at 3500 Milam. Upon arrival they discovered Leslie Russell outside the door of her apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her torso with no pulse and unresponsive.

In the doorway they found her boyfriend, DeAngelo James suffering from gunshot wounds to both legs. Leslie Russell's estranged husband LaQuinta Watson was taken into custody and later found to have a gunshot wound to his upper right leg.

All three were transported to LSU by SFD where Russell was pronounced deceased, DeAngelo James underwent surgery and could possibly loose one of his legs. LaQuinta Watson was treated and released at the hospital and was brought to the Detective office for interview purposes.

Preliminary investigation concluded that Watson came home after being gone for the weekend and kicked the front door open. A gunfight ensued between the two men and Watsons' wife, Leslie Russell somehow got between the two.

Watson has been transferred to CCC.

As of now no charges have been filed against DeAngelo James, Russell's boyfriend.
