Man arrested with help of LSP

Shreveport Police teamed up with two Louisiana State Police troopers this weekend and ended up taking drugs off the street with the arrest of a Shreveport man early Sunday.

Police K-9 Clint Cain was called to conduct a narcotics search during a traffic stop at Broadway and Doris streets. The suspect, 27-year-old Marcus Simpson, ended up trying to escape -- only to be quickly taken into custody by Cain and the two state troopers.

He was arrested and charged with possession of ecstasy, marijuana, battery of an officer, four warrants and resisting an officer. During booking, it was learned that he gave a false name, so he was charged with false representation during booking.

This is the second time within a week that Louisiana State Police have worked jointly with Shreveport Police to conduct traffic stops and take a bite out of crime.
