Man arrested for Internet solication

Shreveport Police Department arrested a Minden man today for soliciting a 13-year-old girl online.

Michael McCowan, 33, of Minden was arrested during a traffic stop today on Interstate 49. He is charged with felony computer-aided solicitation of a juvenile. His bond is set at $25,000.

McCowan is accused of soliciting sex from the girl since making contact with her via the Internet on April 2. The girl reported the situation to her mother, who contacted Shreveport Police.

A local sex crimes detective posed as the girl and continued the conversations online with McCowan. They had arranged to meet this morning. As McCowan drove to Shreveport and was headed to meet her, he was stopped and taken into custody. He claimed he had chest pains and was transported to LSU Hospital for examination. When released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

The Shreveport Police Department was assisted in this case by the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office and an investigator with Caddo Sheriff's Office.
