Two injured in shooting

Two people received life-threatening gunshot wounds during a shooting that occurred in a parking lot in the 200 block of W. 70th St. early this morning.

Garland Jones, 26, of Shreveport and Jarrett Robinson, 19, of Shreveport were injured during a shootout that occurred after Jones reportedly got into the car Robinson was in and demanded money. A shootout took place in the car, and both were shot several times. 

When Jones gets out of LSU Hospital, he will be charged with attempted first-degree murder. Two others in a blue Mitsubishi SUV that Jones was with were also arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder. They are Donald Benard, 26, of Shreveport and Alfred Taylor Jr., 31, of Shreveport. Taylor also was charged with illegal possession of stolen things, because a blue Mitsubishi SUV he was driving had been reported stolen April 1.

Robinson is in critical condition. If Robinson dies, the charges against all three men will upgraded to first-degree murder.
