A negligent homicide charge against a Shreveport man has been upgraded to first-degree murder.
Terry Cooksey, 22, of Shreveport is now facing capital murder charges for the death of his grandfather, 76-year-old Arthur Busby.
Busby died yesterday afternoon at the hospital after he spent five days on the floor. Cooksey said he tried to give the man food and water, but he did not seek medical attention for the elderly man.
The charge was upgraded after it was learned the Cooksey allegedly beat his grandfather, which is why the man was on the floor. Cooksey then allegedly took cash from Busby, so he could buy a video game.
First-degree murder is punishable by the death penalty or life in prison.
