FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Update on North Market Shooting
Shreveport Police responded to two different one-vehicle accidents this morning that tied up traffic on major highways.
The first accident occurred about 5 a.m. on the off ramp of I-220 at North Market Street. Floyd Turner Jr., 36, of Canton, Mississippi tried to avoid a car that stopped suddenly in front of him. When he went left into the median, his 18-wheeler turned over, losing its load of frozen produce. Turner had a small cut on his leg and was taken to Willis-Knighton Bossier for treatment.
About 11:40 a.m. today at Interstate 20 near Hearne Avenue, a one-vehicle accident occurred in the eastbound lanes. The driver of a 2000 Honda Civic said she was in the middle lane when a vehicle to her right came into her lane. She swerved to avoid the vehicle and lost control. Tierra Martin, 18, of Shreveport was taken to LSU Hospital with moderate injuries. She had three other occupants -- Channell Holloway, 17; Shandra Phillips, 18; and Bryant Priset, 21, all of Shreveport. Holloway was taken to LSU Hospital with moderate injuries. The other two were not injured.
No citations were issued in either accident.
