Man arrested in beating death

Shreveport Police Department has arrested an 18-year-old man on a charge of manslaughter for the beating death of a man in the 200 block of East 70th Street on April 25.

Rodney Small of Shreveport was arrested Wednesday evening for the death of 54-year-old Warren Wright of Shreveport. Wright was beaten up by Small and some other young people during an argument over stolen goods. During the argument, Small reportedly struck Wright, which caused Wright to fall to the ground and was injured. He was taken to LSU Hospital, unconscious and unresponsive. On May 7, Wright succumbed to the injury and died.

The Caddo Coroner's Office notified detectives of the death, and an investigation was launched and Small was arrested.

The investigation continues, and more arrests are possible.
