Man charged with homicide

Shreveport police have arrested a 57-year-old Shreveport man on a charge of second-degree murder for the shooting death of a co-worker in the 1700 block of Spring Street last night.

The incident happened about 10:15 p.m. after the two got off work from the VA Medical Center, where they are employeed as housekeepers. They had been involved in an ongoing dispute.

Edward Kidd reportedly followed the victim, 47-year-old Alvin Reed (unknown address), from the hospital to the Spring Street location, where he began firing shots at Reed. Reed then reportedly got a gun from his car and returned fire.

Reed was pronounced dead at the scene. Kidd was grazed in the abdomen.

Kidd was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of second-degree murder.
