Teacher arrested

Shreveport Police booked a teacher who claimed his principal struck him with a closed fist in May was arrested this afternoon for filing a false police report.

Charles P. Smith, 54, of Shreveport was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of criminal mischief. Smith accused his principal of battering him during a meeting the two had on May 11. An audiotape recording of the meeting was released to the media by Smith with claims that he had been beaten by the principal.

An investigation revealed that no red marks or swelling were present on Smith, even though he claimed to have been struck in the face.

Criminal mischief is a misdemeanor.
