SPD graduate 22 new officers

Law enforcement agencies throughout the region will see some new faces patrolling the streets, after 22 people graduated from the Shreveport Regional Police Training Academy this morning.

The 57th Class of the academy -- half of which will go to work for the Shreveport Police Department -- took the oath of office and received their badges after completing 16 weeks of training.

In addition to graduating, the recruits raised $567 for the Up With Downs organization through proceeds raised from a car wash held earlier in the year.

The officers and the agencies they will be working for were:

Shreveport Police Department -- James Bell, Jay Castaneda, Joan Catanese, Adrianne Ferguson, Mason Guy, Betsy Huey, John Madjerick, Jimmie Minor, Buford Morris, Drew Peyton and Jason Saiz.

Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office -- Justin Banet, Larry Harrell, Lennis Hearn, Jeffrey Jones, Jennie Preibus, Nicholas Owens and Tony Vandagriff

DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office -- Travis Chelette

Shreveport Fire Department -- Timothy Hood and Rodney Murray

Barksdale Air Force Base -- Sterling Fernandez
