Burglary suspect shot by homeowner

The burglary suspect who was fatally shot by a homeowner in the 10000 block of Carlsbad  Drive has been identified as Jonathan Sternitzky, 11-11-87, who resided nearby in the 10000 block of Monet.

The incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. when the 49-year-old homeowner confronted Sternitzky, who had just broken into a storage shed and a car at the townhouse complex in southeast Shreveport.

The homeowner reported that he tried to hold Sternitzky at bay until police could arrive, but the Sternitzky reportedly went to attack the homeowner, who then fired a fatal shot at the suspect. Sternitzky died at the scene. An autopsy is being conducted and no charges have been filed against the homeowner. The case is being sent to the district attorney's office for review.
