FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Two officers and one former officer arrested
Two police officers and one former police officer turned themselves into the Caddo Correctional Center today after warrants were signed for their arrests in two separate cases.
Cpls. Derrek Brown and Pete D’Arcy are both charged with felony forgery for allegedly altering facts on traffic tickets they had written. The officers are accused of issuing tickets during their regular duty and then putting different times on the tickets to falsely reflect that the citations were written while the officers were working overtime.
The incidents reportedly occurred Jan. 14 and Feb. 4. However, it has not yet been determined how many tickets were falsified and if there are other dates on which other falsifications took place.
Also today, the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office secured an arrest warrant for former Officer Melvin Goodson, who was terminated last week for violation of rules and regulations. He had been on the force since August 2004.
Goodson turned himself into CCC on a charge of malfeasance in office for an incident that reportedly occurred at 10:30 a.m. April 24 at the intersection of Fairfield and Stoner.
A 34-year-old Shreveport woman said Goodson seized drugs during a traffic stop. Instead of charging the woman with a narcotics offense, he tried to solicit sex from her.
The allegations against Brown and D’Arcy is being looked into administratively. Once that investigation is complete, appropriate action will be taken. Brown has been on the force since August 1996 and D'Arcy has been on the force since September of 1993.
