Check point results from last night

The Shreveport Police Department ran a dual purpose operation last night aimed at making the streets of Shreveport safer for all citizens.

Patrol units in conjunction with members of the Office of Special Investigations ran a warrants round up and a traffic check point.

The first part of the operation involved members of OSI hitting houses known to be drug houses, or where individuals with active warrants resided.  After OSI started hitting these houses members of the Patrol Division set up several roadblocks aimed preventing people who were wanted by the police from leaving the area.

The Operation ran yesterday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again this morning from 4:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.

During the second stage of the operation this morning members of the Caddo Sheriffs department, Probation and Parole as well as Shreveport police went looking for individuals who had outstanding warrants.

In all 21 individuals were arrested including 6 on felony charges.  68 citations were issued during the roadblock and 4 vehicles were impounded. 

3 guns, including 1 AK-47 and 2 pistols, were seized as well as some narcotics, mostly marijuana.
