FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Teen girl to be honored by Chief

A 12-year-old girl who helped police find a 97-year-old man who had wandered off from his home last week will get a special honor by acting Chief of Police Mike VanSant and Mayor Cedric Glover today.

Regan Woods of Shreveport will arrive at the Shreveport Police Department today at 2 p.m. for a tour of the building, before heading to the Shreveport City Council meeting at 3 p.m.

The girl was outside playing Thursday (July 19) in southwest Shreveport when she noticed a man in a neighbor's yard. She realized that he looked like the man shown in flyers that were being distributed in the neighborhood. Police were contacted, and the man was returned to his family.

Woods will be receiving a Chief's Appreciation Award, as well as special honors by the mayor.
