Shreveport Police Department's Community Oriented Policing Bureau has been delivering brand new books to local day care centers, as well as giving books directly to the children to take home and read.

As back-to-school time is upon us, the police department wants the children to brush up on their reading skills, as well as get excited to go back to school.

Officers will be at the Little Union Day Care at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, located 1846 Milam (alley behind Little Union Church). They will be reading to the kids and giving them special books to take home. The day care center also will get a batch of brand new books to keep at the center for the children to read during the day.
