Operation August Heat Wave

Shreveport Police are out en masse in at Operation August Heat Wave going on now in the northern part of District 11. Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole, as well as the Louisiana State Police are assisting.

The media is approved to cover this operation, which begins at 4:30 p.m. and runs until about 8 p.m. tonight.

Anyone wanting to cover this should report to the SPD Command Bus, which is parked at Sunset Acres Park, located on Quillen near Comcast (formerly Timer Warner cable).

Randy Patrick from the PIO office will be there, or you may contact Capt. K.R. Jackson for assistance in getting video, interviews, etc.

NOT FOR BROADCAST/PRINT UNTIL AFTER 8 P.M.: The checkpoint is taking place on West Canal, just north of Amherst Street.
