Fatal crash on Milam

A 30-year-old Shreveport woman was killed while riding a bicycle in the 900 block of Elder at Milam Street about 9:50 a.m. today.

Lushawn Washington was struck by a 2007 Ford F-250 pulling a utility trailer with two septic tanks on it. Witnesses said the truck -- driven by Scott Young, 50, of El Grove -- reportedly didn't stop for the stop sign and crossed over Milam, striking the woman.

Washington was taken to LSU Hospital but was later pronounced dead. She had no identity on her, so investigators had to identify her through fingerprints. Family was notified of her death.

The investigation of the crash is pending, and no charges have yet been filed.
